Ashbourne Road District Allotments Association Ltd

Held its first general meeting in the Ashbourne road Wesleyan school room last Friday there was an attendance of over 200 members. Mr Cant (President) referred to the remarkable growth of the association which although had only been established about nine months ago, now consisted of considerably over 300 members, and he was pleased to say they had been able to bring into allotment cultivation over 20 acres of new land without the assistance of any outside public body, and had been able to provide nearly 300 new allotments. It was the first society of its kind to be formed in Derby.

The Secretary stated that the association had ordered 10 tons of seed potatoes for the coming season.

A lecture by Mr. T.R. Hall from the R.H.S. was arranged to deal with “cultivation of allotments in the Ashbourne Road district”

September 1919
